“What Can I Say After I Say I’m Sorry” was written by Walter Donaldson and bandleader Abe Lyman in 1926. Walter Donaldson wrote a great number of popular standards including “At Sundown”, “Love Me Or Leave Me”, “My Blue Heaven” and “My Buddy”. Abe Lyman composed the hit  “I Cried For You” in 1923.
